Model 305 meets full requirements of ASTM D1401 Test Method for Water Separability (demulsability) and related methods. The glass jar heating bath enclosed in a protective cabinet has a range of 40° to 120°C and a stability of ±0.1°C. The temperature is digitally displayed with a resolution of 0.1°C.
The bath is protected to prevent over heating in the event of primary controller failure and by a float that will stop the heating in the event of low bath liquid level. The bath cover reduces water loss and has the capacity for 7 test cylinders. The bath is backlit for easier reading of the emulsion separation line.
The adjustable speed stirrer operates at 1500 ±15 rpm. The stirrer speed is displayed by a digital tachometer. The 7 position turn table rotates under the stirrer motor. The cylinder under test is locked firmly in place exactly centered on the stirrer shaft. The stainless stirrer paddle is 120 mm long, 19 mm wide, and 1.5 mm thick. The stirrer has an adjustable automated digital timer which stops the agitation and sounds an alarm.
The approximate overall dimensions are 15 x 16 x 30 inches high (38 x 41 x 77 cm).
Model 303 is an economical bath meeting full requirements of ASTM D1401 Test Method for Water Separability (demulsability) and related methods. The heated bath is an open glass jar with a range of 40° to 95°C and a stability of ±0.2°C. The temperature is digitally displayed with a resolution of 0.1°C.
The bath is protected to prevent over heating in the event of primary controller failure. A float stops the heating in the event of low bath liquid level. The bath cover reduces water loss and has the capacity for 7 graduated test cylinders firmly held in the bath.
The adjustable speed stirrer operates at 1500 ± 15 rpm. The stirrer is in a fixed position and agitates the test cylinder placed in a central position under it. The stirrer has an adjustable automated timer after 5 minutes stopping the agitation and sounding an alarm. The stainless stirrer paddle is 120 mm long, 19 mm wide, and 1.5 mm thick.
As an option, a stirrer paddle (P/N WS-102) is available that is machined from a single piece of stainless steel. This paddle reduces the possible micro crevices which may accumulate contamination. These contaminants are difficult to remove in paddles of conventional construction.
As an option for Model 303, a protective shield (P/N WS-103) fitting around the open heated jar is available protecting the operator from contact in the event the test is run at higher than method specified temperatures.
